The launching of the H2020-MSCA project “PROTECTED” took place on the 6th and 7th of February.ProtoQSAR has organized this event, which was held in the Board Room of the Scientific Park of the University of Valencia (Spain). This project is funded through the prestigious H2020 Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA), to promote academic-industrial collaboration within the framework of an innovative doctoral program.
The scientific objective of PROTECTED is the study of endocrine disruptors (EDs), chemical pollutants capable of altering our hormonal balance, with effects on our health such as obesity, infertility or even cancer. The EDs can be found in pesticides, plastics, cosmetics, paints, etc., and given their widespread presence there is a high risk of transfer to the food chain.
The event was attended by all the members of this cross-sectorial network, made up of twelve entities spread across Europe, including academic centers, research centers, a bioassay technology SME, a water supplier and a feed supplier, as well as ProtoQSAR that will perform the computational studies inherent to the project. Multiple disciplines are represented in this consortium, including analytical science of food, feed and environment, epidemiology, risk assessment, social sciences and toxicology.
