In this new edition of “Meet the Team”, we introduce you to Mariate (Mª Teresa Martínez Burillo), from ProtoQSAR’s. Business Development team. Her background combines a degree in international relations and foreign trade with experience in market expansion, and she now applies that strategic vision to drive new business opportunities in computational chemistry.
Academic background and professional experience
Mariate holds a degree in International Relations from the Universidad de Murcia and a Master’s in Foreign Trade from the Cámara de Comercio de Madrid. Her professional career has been shaped by her experience in international trade and business development.
Between 2023 and 2025, she served as Head of the Export Department at AMR Anagramas Metálicos, where she led international market expansion and optimised export processes. In 2025, she joined a leading textile company as an Export Specialist. In 2026, she joined ProtoQSAR’s Business Development team, bringing her experience and strategic vision to drive new business opportunities and strengthen the company’s international expansion.

In her role at ProtoQSAR, Mariate focuses on identifying new business opportunities, developing strategic relationships with clients and partners, and supporting the expansion of the company’s computational chemistry research services. She works with the research teams to ensure ProtoQSAR’s scientific solutions effectively reach international markets, combining innovation and business strategy to drive the company’s growth.
What he enjoys most about his work
What Mariate likes most about her job is being able to combine her international experience with science, helping advances in computational chemistry reach the market and generate real impact. She enjoys constantly learning about new technologies and trends, as well as solving complex challenges by finding strategic and innovative solutions for clients. She also values collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, working alongside researchers, chemists, and other specialists, and contributing directly to the company’s growth and international expansion.
Beyond ProtoQSAR: hobbies and personal interests
Outside of work, Mariate likes to stay active through sport, especially running and mountain trails. She also enjoys reading. She loves travelling, discovering new cultures, and spending time with her family and friends.
