Welcome to a new edition of “Meet the Team”
In this new instalment of “Meet the Team”, we introduce Arthur, Regulatory Toxicology Technician at ProtoQSAR. His career combines a solid background in food quality and safety with extensive experience in the chemical industry, and a practical understanding of the European regulatory framework that he now applies to developing innovative solutions for chemical substance management
Academic background and professional experience
Arthur began his university studies in 2005 in France, studying at the universities of Caen (Normandy) and Lille (Nord/Pas-de-Calais), where he obtained a professional degree in Organisational Management with a focus on Food Quality and Safety. Years later, in 2012, he completed a Master’s in Food Quality and Safety at the Universitat de València.
His research experience is markedly professional in nature: for 9 years he worked in the R&D department of a major chemical company in Valencia, handling the legal aspects involved in bringing new chemical products to market. This period allowed him to build a deep, hands-on knowledge of the European regulatory framework, as well as a strategic perspective on how companies must manage regulatory compliance in an increasingly demanding environment.
His role at ProtoQSAR
Arthur has joined ProtoQSAR to lead the IVACE+i Innovación – INNTA2/2025/12 project, ProtoREGU, which aims to develop an intelligent chemical substance database to help companies manage the requirements arising from European legislation, including REACH and CLP. The tool is designed to simplify and streamline regulatory compliance, delivering direct value to companies operating in complex normative environments.
In addition to this project, Arthur serves as an internal reference on chemical legislation, advising both other departments within the company and clients who need specific regulatory guidance.
What he enjoys most about his work
Arthur is particularly motivated by finding solutions to situations that are difficult to approach from a legal standpoint. He enjoys stepping outside his comfort zone and learning new concepts, methodologies, and ways of working. This project is especially stimulating for him because it allows him to bring innovative solutions to companies while expanding his knowledge in project management, data analysis, and computational models.
Beyond ProtoQSAR: hobbies and personal interests
Outside of work, Arthur finds his space in nature and at home. He enjoys tending to his garden, vegetable patch, and chickens, and loves walking or cycling through natural landscapes. He also spends time on board games and some video games, and is a keen music lover with a particular fondness for classical music.
Among his personal recommendations: the album Belief by jazz musician Leon Parker, the saga A Song of Ice and Fire by George R.R. Martin, and the film Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels by Guy Ritchie.
We hope you enjoyed getting to know Arthur a little better.
