We are excited to announce the launch of the SUBBIMATT project!
This project aims to create a positive impact by developing a new generation of smart biomaterials and their application in bio-inspired technical solutions. This is expected to contribute to keeping the European industry competitive and resilient as it transitions toward a circular and climate-neutral economy.
SUBBIMATT Project Overview
The SUBBIMATT project will focus on the development of a new generation of smart, sustainable, and bio-inspired technical textile materials to address current and future energy needs. It will begin with adhesives, bio-polyurethane, and thermosensitive materials, complemented by circular textile intermediates such as coated fabrics and shape-memory filaments.
These will serve to create Smart Textile Materials (STM) with mechanical actuation and energy harvesting capabilities, which will be implemented in building coatings, automotive textiles, and adaptable garments. By applying the “Safe and Sustainable by Design” (SSbD) framework, SUBBIMATT will promote safe, sustainable, and comfortable textiles.
Kickoff Meeting in Ghent (Belgium)
On September 19th and 20th, we had the pleasure of participating in the kickoff meeting of the SUBBIMATT project, held in Ghent, Belgium. It was an enriching experience, where we met our consortium partners, presented the activities to be carried out, and planned both short- and long-term strategies. Additionally, we gained further insights into the field of bio-inspired Smart Textile Materials, which will be the focus of our efforts in the coming years as part of this project.
