The Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities has granted funding to ProtoQSAR for the development of two projects through two different aid lines. On one hand, our company has obtained a co-financing grant from the “Torres Quevedo program” to carry out an industrial research project (reference PTQ-17-09533). The selected project is entitled “Research and implementation of cheminformatic models for the determination of pharmacokinetic and pharmacological parameters of therapeutic peptides”.
This work will consist in the implementation of computational models and tools that will allow the design of peptides with a good therapeutic efficacy and, above all, to guarantee both an adequate availability and adequate administration to patients, ideally orally. This project fits consequently in the same strategic line of all the own research carried out by our company and allows us to expand our field of knowledge and work to a novel and high impact area in the pharmaceutical sector.
Furthermore, the project “Development of ecological repellents, polymeric formulations and effective diffusers against the red palm weevil – PICUREP” coordinated by ProtoQSAR has been selected for funding by the “Challenges Collaboration” program of the Ministry of Science Innovation and Universities (Reference of the file: RTC-2017-6309-2). The PICUREP project will be developed by a consortium formed by a university, a scientific association and three companies:
- Institute of Electrical Technology, Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV)
- OpenNatur SL
- Xenobiotics SL
- ProtoQSAR SL (Coordinating Company)
In PICUREP we propose the combination of repellents and traps for the prevention of the infestation of palm trees by the red palm weevil as an essential element of an eradication strategy. Our goal is the development of new repellent agents, so that in combination with the use of traps we manage an economical and environmentally sustainable way to completely eradicate the red palm weevil from the infested areas. This project can therefore have a high ecological and economic impact, both in our country and in the rest of the countries of the Mediterranean area.
