Issue nº5
Welcome to the 5th issue of our newsletter. In this number, we celebrate our new European-funded Horizon Europe projects: SiToLub and CheMatSustain and HYPIEND. These new initiatives will contribute to different fields, such as safe and sustainable by design (SSbD) and endocrine disruption research in the following years. We are very happy to keep growing in the Horizon Europe research framework, currently being full participants in 8 projects (the others being PANACHE, ToxiFate, VIDEC, BIO-SUSHY, and ONTOX).
Moreover, our business developer manager Simón Perera has participated in the #VozBiotech articles organized by the Spanish Association of Biotechnological Companies (AseBio), discussing the use of computational methods in ecotoxicological studies in the framework of our upcoming participation at SETAC Europe and the free release of our ProtoPRED QSAR prediction module for ecotoxicity, ProtoECO.
Furthermore, we present our ongoing collaboration with the University of Galway, with which we have been collaborating for several years by participating in the MSc of Chemoinformatics and Toxicology. Lastly, we share our upcoming events, with which we plan to expand our network and knowledge.
Three new EU-funded projects have started!
2023 ended with the European Union funding three different projects in which we are involved.
- SiToLub: focused on designing safe and sustainable industrial lubricants for the future.
- CheMatSustain: focusing on the safety assessment of chemical substances at the nano-scale.
- HYPIEND: addressing exposure to disruptive chemical compounds at the hypothalamus-pituitary axis.
In 2024, these projects have started, and their kick-off meetings took place in different European cities. If you want to know more, read our blog entries about these events below!
New #VozBiotech article on the AseBio website!
Our business development manager has participated in the #VozBiotech section of the Spanish Association of Biotechnological Companies. In this article, we talk about the use of chemoinformatic techniques for ecotoxicological studies in the framework of our upcoming participation at SETAC Europe.
The ability to predict the toxicity of chemical compounds using computational models offers a clearer and faster insight into how they affect ecosystems. This approach not only accelerates the process of environmental risk assessment but also helps us make more informed and responsible decisions for the care of our planet. You can already use for free our ProtoPRED QSAR prediction module for ecotoxicity, ProtoECO.
We are participating in the MSc of Chemoinformatics and Toxicology.
This year we continue our participation in the prestigious master’s program of Chemoinformatics and Toxicology at the University of Galway (Ireland). As in the past three years, our team will take on the role of instructors, imparting knowledge on developing chemoinformatic approaches and QSAR models in toxicology. We are happy to contribute to this MSc, further solidifying our dedication to education and innovation.
Let’s meet at the next events!
Our team is constantly working and participating in different events, don’t hesitate to come and meet us. We will be participating in several events in the next months:
- SETAC Europe 34th annual meeting
- ONTOX Hackathon
- VHP4Safety-ONTOX meeting
- ESTIV Congress 2024
- EUROTOX
If you are interested in arranging a meeting with our team at one of these events, please write an email to bd@protoqsar.com
We hope to see you all!
