Today we bring you a new edition of “Meet the Team”

In this edition we’re pleased to introduce Martina Palomino, senior researcher and our head of training.

Martina PalominoWith a strong background in chemistry, Martina earned her bachelor’s degree and specialized in organic chemistry at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, where she also completed her PhD.

Throughout her career, Martina has developed a multidisciplinary profile in research. After a postdoctoral position at KIT and research collaborations at King’s College London, she worked in the joint metabolomics research unit at CIPF and the La Fe Health Research Institute. Her experience spans drug discovery, clinical research, and fields as diverse as environmental science and toxicology.

In our team, Martina leads a project focused on studying the toxicity of mycotoxins. This project goes beyond developing computational models, incorporating experimental work and regulatory applications. Martina is also the head of the company’s training department and collaborates in the unit that provides computing and omics services for developing new bioactive compounds.

One of the things she enjoys most about her work is the variety of tasks involved, from developing computational models to scientific discussions with colleagues. Outside of work, she has numerous hobbies, including reading, listening to audio dramas, cooking, and crafting.

To get to know her a bit more, here are some of her recommendations: the book Kafka on the Shore, the song Spirit of Water by Camel, and the movie Bicentennial Man.

If you’d like to keep meeting the people who make up the ProtoQSAR-Moldrug team, stay tuned to our blog, where we’ll be sharing more soon!
