Welcome to a new edition of “Meet the Team” !
Today, we introduce you to Ágata Llobet, a PhD student at ProtoQSAR.
Ágata studied Biotechnology at the University of Girona (UdG) and completed a master’s degree in Applied and Pharmacological Chemistry at the Jaume I University (UJI). Her passion for research began during her university years when she completed her undergraduate thesis at the Institute of Computational Chemistry and Catalysis in Girona. Later, during her master’s studies, she joined the Computational Biochemistry group at UJI, where she was awarded a research initiation grant.
Her Work at ProtoQSAR
At ProtoQSAR, Ágata primarily works on developing QSAR models to predict agonism and antagonism in different endocrine receptors as part of the European project HYPIEND. Her goal is to identify potential endocrine-disrupting effects of chemical compounds in humans, contributing to improved chemical safety and public health.
What she enjoys most about her work is learning new things. She says she takes great pleasure in reading scientific articles and experiencing the transition from not understanding a topic to mastering it, something she finds highly rewarding.
Her Hobbies and Recommendations
In her free time, Ágata is passionate about literature (especially fantasy), animals, and technology. If you’re looking for recommendations, she suggests listening to Riot by Three Days Grace, reading Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë, and watching Avatar by James Cameron, her favorite movie.
In this edition, we’ve had the chance to get to know Ágata a little better, and we appreciate the dedication, talent, and curiosity she brings to the team.
