Newsletter nº3 This third issue of our newsletter, the first of 2023, comes with the exciting news that we want to share with you all. In this edition, we present our new hands-on course that will take place in Valencia, focused on machine learning methods for drug discovery and toxicology. Moreover, we share different events in which we have participated related to three different EU projects: the kick-off meeting of BIO-SUSHY, an update meeting of VIDEC, and the Stakeholder network meeting of ONTOX. In addition, we are proud to announce that in the past months, some of our researchers presented their work at international congresses and conferences. Their talks highlighted […]
The EU-funded project BIO-SUSHY has just kicked off its efforts towards a sustainable future in surface protection. The project aims to develop alternative surface coatings that replace PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances), a widely used but environmentally damaging group of substances. Our CTO, Eva Serrano, and our International Project Manager, Patricia Serrano, recently attended the kick-off meeting in Mons, Belgium. This meeting brought together the consortium members to plan the next steps for achieving the project goals. Over the next four years, the BIO-SUSHY project will focus on the development of sustainable surface protection through the use of glass-like hybrid and biomaterial coatings. These coatings have the potential to replace PFAS […]
VIDEC meeting in Valencia. In January, our company hosted the annual meeting of the EU-funded project VIDEC in our offices in the European Center of Innovative Companies (CEEI) in Valencia, Spain. The VIDEC meeting is an essential gathering where we share the latest project updates and plan future steps. The event was a great success, and we had the pleasure of welcoming esteemed colleagues from the consortium from around the world who shared their knowledge, expertise, and the last steps related to the project. Our team actively participated in the meeting, not only in the organization but presenting our findings and discussing the project’s progress. We believe that this meeting […]
10 years of ProtoQSAR! In this second issue of our newsletter, we are celebrating our 10th anniversary! On September 2012, our company was founded! Now, ten years later, we continue working to bring chemoinformatics and molecular modelling to everyone, helping to obtain more reliable, economical, and faster results and also replacing animal testing. During this time, our company has grown, and our team is now composed by 16 people. We have participated in more than 30 projects (including European, national and regional funding), with half currently active, and we have published 20 scientific articles. On the occasion of this event, we have prepared different actions to celebrate it. We will give […]
ProtoQSAR researchers participate at different international events We are thrilled to announce that our Marie Curie funded researchers, Salvador Moncho and José Luis Vallés, have recently presented their work at various international events, showcasing their groundbreaking research to audiences from all over the world. Salvador Moncho, a researcher in the field of nanomaterials, gave a captivating divulgative talk at the INspiracy event, a section of the scientific BCNspiracy event which was designed to showcase the latest scientific updates to high school students. Salvador’s talk focused on his recent work called NanoQSAR, in which he applies QSAR methodologies to study the properties of nanomaterials. His presentation was a great success, engaging […]
You can check our recently released webinar “Use of ProtoPRED for in silico risk assessment under REACH and ICH M7”. In this webinar, we discuss the applications of our computational tool ProtoPRED, with a special focus on the ProtoREACH and ProtoICH modules. ProtoREACH is a computational tool specifically focused on REACH, a European Union regulation adopted to improve the protection of human health and the environment from the risks that can be posed by chemicals. ProtoICH is a computational tool designed to predict the mutagenicity of compounds, accomplishing strict adherence to the ICH-M7 guideline, the official international regulation adopted to limit the potential carcinogenic risk of impurities in pharmaceuticals. ProtoPRED […]
ProtoQSAR presence in different congresses! In the last months, our team has been able to participate in different congresses by attending and, sometimes, presenting our work. Our CTO Eva Serrano Candelas presented a poster at the ONE conference by online modality. In this work, Eva presented the results of a project on Endocrine Disruption using different computational approaches. Here is a short video about the work: Both our PhD students, Rita Ortega Vallbona and Laureano E. Carpio, participated in the Spanish National Biotechnology Congress (BAC) held in Valencia. The jury selected them to present not one but two posters each! Rita defended two posters about her PhD project entitled “State […]
ProtoQSAR participates in the European researchers’ night. Last Friday, September 30, the European researchers’ night was celebrated. On the occasion of this celebration, our researchers Salvador Moncho Escrivà and José Luís Vallés Pardo participated in the Mediterranean night of the MEDNIGHT researchers. This initiative, organized by scientific institutions in the Mediterranean area, organized different activities to celebrate this event, disseminating research carried out in the Mediterranean area. Our researchers specifically participated in the “European Corner” activity, where projects financed by the European Commission in different areas such as health or the environment were exhibited. Two of our projects were exhibited at this event: The MSCA-IF project NanoQSAR consists of developing […]
