Welcome to a new edition of “Meet the Team”!
Today we invite you to meet Vicente Aranda, junior researcher at ProtoQSAR.
If you want to get to know Vicente Aranda better, you should know that he holds a degree in Chemistry from the University of Valencia and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Toxicology, Pollution, and Environmental Health.
His Research Journey
His first experience with research was through an internship in the Polymers group at ICMuV. There, he participated in the development of polymeric nanocapsules capable of storing energy using phase-change materials.
Later on, in his Bachelor’s Thesis, he worked on a new method for synthesizing transparent metal oxide nanolayers to improve charge transport in photovoltaic devices.
His Work at ProtoQSAR
At ProtoQSAR, Vicente is part of the SSbD department, where he works on the SITOLUB project, which aims to develop more efficient, sustainable, and environmentally friendly lubricants. In addition, getting to know Vicente also means understanding his interest in QSAR model development.
What Vicente enjoys most about his work is the entire QSAR model development process: from database processing and filtering to the satisfaction of obtaining good metrics in his models. Moreover, he also enjoys coming up with new development strategies and imagining innovative projects for the future.
His Hobbies and Recommendations
When it comes to his free time, Vicente is a lover of mountains, climbing, and mountaineering. These activities allow him to test his limits (and also the patience of his family and friends).
He is passionate about technology, programming, and video games. His movie recommendation is The Lord of the Rings trilogy (“extended version, of course,” as he says). As for literature, he is a big fan of Brandon Sanderson and especially recommends The Stormlight Archive series.
